In Kherson, a local resident was detained on suspicion of aiding the aggressor state. According to investigators, during the Russian occupation of the city he helped the Russians restore the operation of a seized enterprise for the needs of the Russian army.
This was reported by the SBU Administration in the Kherson region.
According to law enforcement, the man worked at a local factory and, after the enterprise was seized, voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the occupation authorities.
In August 2022 he was appointed head of a shop section at the seized factory.
According to the investigation, he recruited workers for the enterprise, tried to persuade his acquaintances and former colleagues to cooperate, and also engaged in restoring production capacities.
Law enforcement claims the suspect repaired technological equipment and conducted an inventory of property for its transfer to the occupation administration.
After the de-occupation of Kherson, the man stayed in the city but moved to live with his daughter in an attempt to avoid responsibility. Law enforcement established his whereabouts and detained him.
During searches, mobile phones with evidence of contacts with Russian military personnel were seized from him, as well as money which, according to the investigation, he received for working for the occupiers.
The man was notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — aiding the aggressor state.
The court imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention.
If found guilty, he faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
