The Security Service of Ukraine has launched a new phase of a nationwide information campaign aimed at countering the recruitment of Ukrainians by Russian intelligence services. Its main goal is to warn about the methods the enemy uses to involve citizens in arson, sabotage, terrorist acts and other crimes against Ukraine.

The recruitment process usually begins with a simple message on a social network or messenger. Russian intelligence services increasingly use psychological manipulation. The enemy poses as an employer, volunteer, law enforcement officer, and uses dating sites in order to gain trust.
That is why the main message of the information campaign – “The FSB will become anyone to make you a traitor.” Four informational segments demonstrate the most common recruitment scenarios used by hostile intelligence services.
In 2026 alone, the SBU recorded more than 300 sabotage and terrorist incidents by the Russian Federation. Of these, the Security Service and the National Police uncovered 249 cases, and prevented 84.
The SBU urges citizens to be especially vigilant about any suspicious messages from strangers. If an interlocutor offers easy earnings or asks you to perform a dubious task – to deliver an unknown package, photograph an object, buy certain materials in a building supermarket, or pass on information – you should immediately report it to law enforcement.
