SBU investigators announced suspicion against Crimean resident Serhiy Shmyrko, who took a job with an illegal law-enforcement body in temporarily occupied Kherson region.

According to the investigation, in spring 2025 Serhiy Shmyrko assumed the position of the so-called acting police officer of the commandant’s platoon of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kherson Oblast.
It is known that Shmyrko worked in the seized administrative building on Polynna Street in Henicheska Hirka, where the occupying Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Kherson Oblast is based.
For this, Serhiy Shmyrko is suspected of collaborationist activity, namely voluntarily assuming, as a citizen of Ukraine, a position in an illegal law-enforcement body created on temporarily occupied territory (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
If his guilt is proven, Shmyrko may face 12 to 15 years of imprisonment.
