SBU investigators announced suspicion against former Kherson Regional Council deputy Natalia Tkachenko, who during the occupation of the city cooperated with the illegal authorities.
This is stated on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, in September 2022 Tkachenko voluntarily agreed to head the so-called Centralized Library System of Kherson.
Thus, as acting director she helped the occupiers implement Russian standards in the field of culture. The main tasks of her unit were the removal of Ukrainian literature and its replacement with Russian publications.
In addition, at the Lesya Ukrainka Central City Library, where a propaganda exhibition “Welcome to Kherson” was organized, Tkachenko gave an interview in which she openly supported the actions of the Russian Federation, justified the occupation, and announced the removal from the collections of books related to the activities of the UPA and the figure of Stepan Bandera.
For these actions Natalia Tkachenko is suspected under Part 6 of Article 111-1 and Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – collaborationist activities and justification of Russian aggression.
It should be noted that Tkachenko previously worked as director of the Central Children’s Library.
In 2010 she became a deputy of the Kherson Regional Council from the “Communist Party of Ukraine”, and in 2015 ran for the Kherson City Council from the “Union of Left Forces”.
