Kherson collaborator Volodymyr Saldo received another sentence. This time for the robbery of the Kherson Bread Products Plant and the removal of thousands of tons of grain.
This is stated on the website of the Judiciary.
As the investigation established, in March 2022 Saldo headed the illegally created Military-Civilian Administration of the Kherson region, and already in October of the same year by Putin’s decree became the so-called acting governor of the region.
In these positions Saldo led the local occupation authorities and followed all the Kremlin’s orders.
He was directly responsible for the forced re-registration of Ukrainian businesses under Russian standards and for the illegal removal of grain.
In particular, in September 2022 Saldo signed an order to introduce “temporary administration” at PJSC “Kherson Bread Products Plant”.
To run the enterprise, which at the start of the war stored more than 30 thousand tons of private grain belonging to various Ukrainian companies, he appointed the head of the seized seaport.
Saldo ordered his deputy for property and trade relations to control this process.
Already in October 2022 Saldo signed an order for the urgent “evacuation” of grain from Kherson and the right bank. He ordered subordinates to unlawfully seize private stocks of barley, corn, soy, rapeseed and sunflower and transfer them to the left bank in order to dispose of them at their own discretion.
Saldo appointed the acting deputy head of the fake government of occupied Kherson region responsible for this.
As a result of this order, the occupiers loaded onto three barges and transported to Hola Prystan over 2,850 tons of others’ barley that belonged to the companies WESTAGRO TRADE COMMODITIES LTD and LLC “Piryatynskyi Delicacy”. The entrepreneurs’ losses amounted to 14.7 million hryvnias.
Having examined the evidence, the court in absentia found Volodymyr Saldo guilty of violating the laws and customs of war (part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of all property.
This term was determined by the totality of sentences, since Saldo already has three in absentia punishments – he received 15 years for state treason, collaborationism and glorification, another 15 years in the case concerning the creation of the occupation “Kherson Post”, and another 15 – for propaganda, justification of Russian aggression and discrediting the Ukrainian army.
