The occupation authorities announced the development of a drone countermeasure system allegedly to protect the “Novorossiya” highway, which connects the occupied territories of the Kherson region and annexed Crimea.
This was told to Kremlin-controlled media by the so-called governor of the Kherson region, Volodymyr Saldo.
According to Saldo, Russian military and security forces allegedly developed a system for the detection and countering of drones, and have also intensified the operation of electronic warfare assets.
At the same time, the occupation authorities assured that they will not stop traffic on this highway.
Recall, at the end of May the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a number of strikes on equipment of the occupying forces on the temporarily occupied territories (TOT) of the Kherson region. In particular, the land corridor to Crimea came under strikes.
In connection with this, the occupation governor Volodymyr Saldo signed an order on the temporary restriction of freight traffic on the R-280 “Novorossiya” highway.
In addition, Saldo said that on the left bank of the Kherson region they will create “volunteer battalion” BARS “Kherson”, which is to engage in countering Ukrainian drones.
Earlier, the spokesman of the Ukrainian Naval Forces, Dmytro Pletenchuk, reported that the Russian Federation may be forced to use the Kerch Bridge more actively to transport military cargo and fuel against the background of depleted reserves and problems with ferry logistics.
