The occupying authorities of the Kherson region report a “rise in the birth rate”, and according to them, more than a thousand children were born on the left bank of the region in 2025.
This was reported by the occupation-appointed governor of Kherson Oblast, Volodymyr Saldo.
According to him, the number of births in 2025 allegedly increased by 31% compared with the previous year.
The occupation administration also claims that on the temporarily occupied territory of the region the number of families deciding to have children is allegedly increasing.
Earlier it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting on demographic issues, stated that in Russia “the willingness to have children is increasing”. The strongest desire to become parents allegedly arises among people in the temporarily occupied Kherson region, which Putin also considers territory of the Russian Federation.
Note that since January 2025 at least 27 Russian regions have introduced payments for young mothers, in particular for pregnant full-time university students and schoolgirls. In most regions these payments apply to young women up to 25 years old. In March 2025 a number of RF regions expanded the payments to pregnant schoolgirls as well.
In addition, in schools on the occupied territory of the Kherson region the occupying authorities planned to introduce a course to stimulate birth rates.
