The occupation governor of Kherson region Volodymyr Saldo said that after the “liberation” of Kherson (apparently, Saldo means the repeated occupation of the city by Russian troops, – MOST) he plans to return there. Saldo intends to live in his house on Quarantine Island.
This was revealed in his interview, which was shared by pro-Russian Telegram channels.
According to him, he built this house himself back in his youth, when he worked as a construction engineer. Saldo also noted that Quarantine Island, or simply “the Island”, as local residents call it, is “one of the best districts of Kherson, where more than 30 thousand people used to live”.
Note that due to Russian shelling, 90% of residents were evacuated from the Ostrov neighborhood – by the end of summer 2025 there remained about 200 people there. People live without electricity and heating, and water is supplied intermittently. Delivery of humanitarian aid is also complicated.
As a result of Russian airstrikes on August 2 and 3, the Ostrov Bridge was damaged – the only road bridge that connects the Korabel neighborhood with the mainland part of the city.
Earlier it was reported that the High Anti‑Corruption Court confiscated Saldo’s assets. Among them was the house in Kherson, which withstood the flood after the Russians blew up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant.
