A Russian serviceman was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment for the murder of seven civilians in the Kherson region.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Police.
The crime occurred in April 2022 in the temporarily occupied village of Pravdyne. At that time, Russian servicemen killed six civilian men and a minor girl at night.
Law enforcement identified the identity of one of those involved — he turned out to be the commander of a marine infantry unit of the Russian army. He was born in 1991 and lived in Crimea, but after the occupation of the peninsula he sided with the aggressor state.
Investigators classified his actions under articles on treason and war crimes. The court found the serviceman guilty and in absentia sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Recall, a 61-year-old scientist from Kherson, who during the Russian occupation headed a department at the occupied Kherson National University and implemented there the educational standards of the aggressor country, was notified of suspicion.
