The Southern District Military Court in Russia sentenced a resident of Kherson Oblast, Oleksandr Skrabunov, to life imprisonment.
This was reported by Kremlin-controlled media.
Skrabunov was found guilty in the case of the murder of the so-called executive secretary of the Novokakhovka branch of the United Russia party Volodymyr Malov, as well as in a series of arsons of vehicles used by Russian servicemen in the occupied part of Kherson Oblast.
According to the Russian investigation, in 2023 Skrabunov allegedly began cooperating with the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In the Russian Federation they claim that he set several vehicles used by Russian servicemen on fire in July, September and October 2023.
The Russian side also claims that on October 7, 2023 Skrabunov remotely detonated an improvised explosive device in Nova Kakhovka at the moment when Volodymyr Malov’s car was passing nearby. As a result of the explosion, Malov was killed.
In addition, according to the Russian investigation, in September 2023 Skrabunov allegedly tried to blow up the head of the civil defense service of the occupation administration of Nova Kakhovka, but he survived.
