“The region’s beaches are fully ready for an influx of vacationers,” reported some Kremlin media about the opening of the tourist season on the left bank of Kherson region. However, this “influx” is somehow not observed. Despite promises to attract nearly a quarter of a million tourists, the resort towns of the occupied part of the region are still empty. And the beaches that were supposedly “prepared” for the start of summer are actually not officially certified by the Russians as places for recreation.
Russian sources report the readiness of the beaches.
“The resort season has started in Henichesk in Kherson region. Thus, employees of MKU “Gorzhilstroy” put the city and the children’s beach in order. They removed garbage, painted the changing rooms and canopies, installed a workout area and shaded zones.
The beaches are fully ready for an influx of vacationers. The city also plans to create a multifunctional space for recreation, sports and creativity,” note the journalists of the publication “Komsomolskaya Pravda”.
Other propagandists from the so‑called TV and radio company “Tavriya” even filmed a video report about preparing the beaches for an “influx” of Russian tourists. In their video, two employees of the same “Gorzhilstroy” are cleaning an absolutely deserted shoreline near occupied Henichesk. It’s a rather telling picture. Before 2022, at this time the seaside towns of the region were already full of holidaymakers.
However, narratives about “prepared” recreation sites are refuted by other Russian media. Thus, “Bloknot. Kherson” notes that no beach in the region has been granted “official” status. Swimming here is not recommended, because such stretches of coastline lack accompanying infrastructure, there are no rescue posts and no water quality analysis has been conducted.
“The region counted 24 unauthorized bathing places, and there were no declarations about the opening of beaches. 18 beaches were transferred to the ownership of Kherson region in 2025. But there are still no open recreation areas for the season, which is dangerous,” the media note.
A paradoxical situation has developed: some Russian journalists tell about the readiness of recreation sites in the region to accept “hundreds of thousands” of tourists, others note that there are no certified beaches in the occupied territory, so it is simply unsafe to vacation here. “Declarations about the official opening of beaches this year have not been received,” “Bloknot. Kherson” confirmed the information with the occupation “EMERCOM”.
So we have another lie from some pro‑Russian media — the beaches are supposedly ready to receive vacationers, but no monitoring of the condition of water and sand has been carried out, there are no rescue posts, toilets or trash bins. Add to this problems with electricity supply and fuel on the left bank of Kherson region and the closure of the “Novorossiya” road by Ukrainian drones — and you get a simply “ideal” place for summer holidays.
