The 63-year-old mathematics teacher from the village of Rykove in Henichesk district, Saliye Azmeeva, was accused by the occupying authorities of alleged “terrorist activity” and added to the list of “extremists and terrorists”.
This was reported by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.
According to the organization, the woman is accused of “participation in the civil blockade of Crimea” in 2015, of involvement with the battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan, and of activities in the local Mejlis.
On January 30, 2024, Rosfinmonitoring included Saliye Azmeeva on the list of “extremists and terrorists”, and after her departure to territory controlled by Ukraine on June 16, 2022, the occupying authorities brought a criminal case against her under part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, accusing her of participation in the battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan.
The Crimean Tatar Resource Center notes that Azmeeva is one of dozens of defendants in the so-called “case of the battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan”, which Russia uses to persecute Crimean Tatars and residents of the occupied territories.
