The Russians acknowledged the existence of a humanitarian catastrophe in temporarily occupied Oleshky in the Kherson region.
Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik said in a comment to propagandist media that the situation in the city is critical.
However, Russia traditionally blamed the Armed Forces of Ukraine and “the authorities of Western countries” for this.
Until the end of May 2026, the so-called governor of the occupied part of the Kherson region, Volodymyr Saldo, did not recognize humanitarian problems in Oleshky. In statements to pro-Russian media he called them “hypocrisy”.
It should be noted that the situation there remains critical. The city lacks stable electricity and gas supplies, and access to drinking water is limited. People are forced to conserve basic resources, and food deliveries are often complicated due to the danger of shelling.
Ukraine called on the UN Secretary‑General and international partners to influence Russia to ensure compliance with international humanitarian law and to create safe conditions for the evacuation of civilians, the statement says.
According to official data, more than 6 thousand residents of the occupied part of the Kherson region may require humanitarian aid, among them about 200 children. Most of them have limited mobility.
