“Kherson residents are suffering from ‘anthrax.’ Many residents have developed abscesses, fever and nausea, they are being hospitalized,” – this is the apocalyptic picture of life on the right bank of the Kherson region painted by Russian propagandists. According to them, a mass outbreak of anthrax has begun in the region, which, however, none of the locals had even heard about. This is already the second fake epidemic in the past week. A few days ago the Russians reported cases of rabies infection in the regional center.

“It is reported that this morning in Inzhenerne, an employee of the Institute of Irrigated Agriculture was allegedly detained. He allowed the mass death of livestock due to an outbreak of anthrax in Snihurivskyi, Velykooleksandrivskyi and Vysokopilskyi districts. According to our data, Ukrainian security forces have begun to block certain areas of the region,” the Russians report.
What connection employees of the Institute of Agriculture have to an infectious disease is not explained. Moreover, the institution has not operated in Inzhenerne since 2022. However, the employee invented by the Russians probably did not know this and continued to faithfully go to work.
Notably, hostile media do not even hide that they invented this fake in response to information from the GUR that on the occupied territory of Kherson region Russian military and the illegal “administration” are creating conditions for the spread of the anthrax pathogen. Thus, Kremlin propaganda is simply trying to mirror that information.
By the way, anthrax is not the only deadly disease that, according to the Russians, Kherson residents suffer from:
“On the right bank of the Dnipro the number of incidents of contact with potentially rabid animals is increasing, and resources to fight the dangerous infection are becoming increasingly scarce,” note the authors of the propagandist media outlet “Bloknot.Kherson”.
According to these “journalists”, the rabies problem is not a priority for the Ukrainian authorities. Despite allegedly hundreds of appeals after animal bites and regular reports of new disease hotspots, residents of the right bank do not see large-scale programs for capturing stray dogs or mass vaccination.
And, of course, this is blatant lying. Recently there have been no reports of rabies outbreaks in the region. As for vaccination, it is being actively carried out; it’s just that the Russians, apparently, do not know how to use the Ukrainian public procurement platform Prozorro. There is information there that the regional center constantly conducts procurements of veterinary services for stray animals. In 2025, UAH 540 thousand was spent on sterilization and vaccination, and in 2026 – already 200 thousand hryvnias.
