Since June 21, ferry service across the Kerch crossing has been temporarily suspended and transport redirected through the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region.
This was reported by the operational headquarters of Russia’s Krasnodar Krai.
The statement notes that due to a ban on heavy truck traffic on the Crimean Bridge, drivers are advised to use an alternative overland route — the R-280 “Novorossiya” highway.
This road runs through the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions and connects Russian Rostov-on-Don with annexed Crimea.
Note that for several weeks the so-called route “Novorossiya” has been under the control of Ukrainian Armed Forces drones. In particular, since May the Defense Forces have carried out around 200 drone strikes on fuel tankers, trucks and other transport on this road.
As a result of these actions, a significant fuel shortage is observed on the left bank of the Kherson region and in Crimea. Moreover, on June 21 in Crimea the sale of fuel for the needs of the population and businesses was completely suspended.
