Prosecutors of the Kherson District Prosecutor’s Office appealed to the court with a lawsuit to terminate the contract for the restoration of a locally significant historical monument in Kherson, concluded in 2021 between one of the departments of the Kherson Regional State Administration and a private company.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
During the inspection it was established that in 2021 the contractor was transferred 32 million UAH, while the work actually performed amounted to only about 4 million UAH. In connection with this, the prosecutor’s office also filed claims for the recovery of 28 million UAH of unjustifiably paid budget funds.
In addition, since 2022 the work under the contract has not been performed.
Due to inflationary processes and the increase in the cost of construction materials, the implementation of the project according to the 2021 estimate became impossible, and further performance of the contract creates risks of irrational use of budget funds.
In order to protect the interests of the state and to prevent budget losses in the amount of more than 62 million UAH, the prosecutor’s office appealed to the court.
Recall, Kherson region is among the three regions of Ukraine with the greatest losses of cultural heritage since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. According to official data, the destruction of 297 cultural heritage monuments has been recorded in the region.
