There are currently no means to suppress fiber-optic FPV drones that daily attack targets on the right bank of Kherson Oblast.
The head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, said this during the 2025 year-end press conference.
According to him, a range of specialized sensors are used in Kherson Oblast to neutralize such drones; they detect drones operating on fiber-optic cables.
“They use sound sensors, motion sensors and others. In addition, there are visual observation posts,” Prokudin said.
He also noted that, at present, apart from nets and direct destruction by mobile fire groups, there are no systems to suppress such drones.
Recall that last autumn the Russians began using specially equipped fiber-optic drones to scout Ukrainian positions. They are used particularly actively for reconnaissance in Kherson.
On such UAVs, Russian forces install digital cameras, very large batteries, and a minimal explosive charge. These drones allow reconnaissance at very low altitudes and can detect targets quite accurately.
