Law enforcement officers have notified a 52-year-old man of suspicion who, during the occupation of Kherson, worked as a cameraman for the pro-Russian TV channel “Tavriya”.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, in July 2022 the man was employed by the occupiers’ illegally created State Unitary Enterprise “Kherson Regional Television and Radio Company «Tavriya»”. There he contributed to the creation of propaganda pieces that justified the Russian occupation and formed a distorted picture of events in the region.
Investigators established that the suspect filmed staged segments and interviews with representatives of the occupation administration and so-called opinion leaders who supported the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine. He also traveled to scenes of combat, from where broadcasts aired segments with information distorted in Russia’s favor.
In addition, the man took part in preparing reports from propaganda actions on the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region.
According to the investigation, these materials were intended to create among local residents and the audience the impression of an alleged “peaceful life” under occupation and the population’s support for Russian authorities.
The man was notified of suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 27, Part 6 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – collaborationist activity.
The court has already imposed a preventive measure on him in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail of more than 266 thousand hryvnias.
Earlier it became known that four female residents of Beryslav district were notified in absentia of suspicion of participating in the organization and holding of an illegal referendum in Kherson region.
