In 2025, 63% of all civilian losses in Ukraine fell on frontline regions.
This is stated in the report of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports.
The UN notes that older people who remain living near the front line have become a particularly vulnerable category.
According to the mission, people aged 60 and over accounted for more than 45% of civilians killed in frontline areas in 2025 – that is 742 people. At the same time, this age group makes up only about 25% of Ukraine’s population.
The UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine also noted an increase in victims due to the use of short-range drones. They were the cause of the deaths of 577 civilians and the wounding of another 3,288 people. This is 120% more than in 2024.
Note that according to the Kherson Regional Military Administration, during 2025 in Kherson region as a result of Russian drone terror 130 people were killed, including 3 children. Another 1,195 civilian residents were injured.
