Collaborators Hennadiy and Olena Shelestenko have been running the illegally established Kherson Regional Museum since November 2025. At the same time, Russian media did not cover their appointment — it appeared only in the relevant registers.
This was reported by correspondents “IPC-South” citing Russian sources.
According to the published data, on November 19, 2025, Hennadiy Shelestenko was appointed acting general director of the institution, and his wife headed the scientific and educational department. Neither of them has a relevant education or experience working in the museum field.
At the same time, the pseudo-museum still does not have its own premises, and the exhibits taken by Russian military from Kherson, are stored in the basement of a cinema in Henichesk.
At the same time, the issue of placing the stolen museum collections remains unresolved. According to available information, appeals to the occupation administration for allocation of premises have yielded no results, the article says.
Earlier a Ukrainian court had already handed verdicts to both collaborators. Hennadiy Shelestenko was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, Olena — to 12 years.
