Ukrainian partisans who eliminated collaborator Volodymyr Leontiev in occupied Nova Kakhovka revealed details of the operation.

Recall, the operation participants were evacuated to Ukrainian-controlled territory. During the occupation of Nova Kakhovka they remained in the city and began partisan activity.
“At first we set relay cabinets on fire, helped hide locals, collected weapons that were later used against the occupiers,” — said one of the group members.
Later they began providing Ukrainian forces with coordinates of the locations of Russian troops.
“We wanted to bring to justice everyone who brought war to our city. We showed that it is possible to fight them — and we succeeded. We will definitely return to Nova Kakhovka and raise the Ukrainian flag,” — the partisans said.
Recall, Leontiev was blown up with planted explosives by members of the Resistance Movement. This happened on October 1, 2025.

In March 2022 he gave the order to Russian forces to abduct and torture the mayor of Beryslav, Oleksandr Shapovalov, for which Valeriy Leontiev was sentenced to 15 years.
In April 2022 Leontiev was notified of suspicion of collaborationist activity. In the summer of the same year he was charged with involvement in the abduction of journalist Oleh Baturin.
In 2024 Leontiev was sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment for the illegal detention of a journalist from the Kakhovka newspaper, the mayor of Tavriisk and the secretary of the Nova Kakhovka city council.
