Law enforcement authorities have notified Vadym Vasylchuk, the head of the territorial department in the occupation administration of Henichesk, of suspicion.
This was reported on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, no later than January 15, 2025, while being in occupied Henichesk, Vasylchuk voluntarily assumed the illegal position of head of the territorial department of Henichesk city of the so-called Administration of the Henichesk Municipal District (a territorial unit established by the illegal authorities).
In the pseudo-post, Vasylchuk carried out organizational, managerial, and administrative-economic duties. In particular, he organized the implementation of the occupation administration’s decisions, allocated tasks among employees, supervised their work, provided for the material and technical needs of the unit, represented the department in interactions with other illegal structures and the population, and also issued administrative directives within the scope of his functions.
According to the Center for Journalistic Investigations, prior to the start of the full-scale invasion, Vasylchuk worked as the deputy mayor of Henichesk for housing and communal services. After the occupation of the city, he, together with the team of the then-mayor Oleksandr Tulupov, “stepped down” from his duties.
It is known that Vasylchuk is the current head of the NGO “Patriot”. Earlier he headed the municipal enterprise “City Cinema Network”. In 2015 he ran for the Henichesk City Council from the “European Solidarity” party, and in 2020 — for the city and district councils from the “For the Future” party.
In 2022 he for the first time obtained a position with the occupiers — he became the director of the seized “Ukraine” cinema. Later he was appointed deputy to Viktor Razumnyi for communication with the so-called community elders. After that, Vasylchuk headed one of the so-called departments of the occupation administration of the Henichesk community.
Vasylchuk is accused of collaborationist activities (Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine); he faces 5 to 10 years in prison with confiscation of all property.
