Law enforcement officers reported suspicion against a resident of the Kherson region, Petro Zhayvoronok, who assumed a leadership position in the occupation’s tax service.
The text of the suspicion was published on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, Zhayvoronok became the head of Operational Control Department No. 1 in the so-called Office of the Federal Tax Service for Kherson Oblast, created by the Russian occupation administration in the temporarily occupied territory.
In that pseudo-position he carried out organizational and managerial as well as administrative and economic functions related to the implementation of Russian tax legislation, control of cash register equipment, and the re-registration of entrepreneurs under Russian Federation regulations.
Furthermore, according to the investigation, Zhayvoronok organized the transition of local entrepreneurs to the use of Russian cash register equipment and performed other administrative functions in the interests of the occupation administration.
The activities of this unit were aimed at ensuring the functioning of the occupation tax system in the Kherson region, in particular in Skadovsk.
Petro Zhayvoronok is accused under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — voluntarily holding a position in illegal authorities in a temporarily occupied territory.
It should be noted that before the full-scale invasion, from 2018 to 2020 he worked as the chief state inspector of the “Skadovsk” customs post in the system of the State Fiscal Service.
In 2021 he held the position of chief state inspector of Customs Clearance Department No. 3 of the “Kherson-port” customs post of the Black Sea Customs of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
It was previously reported that the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Chernivtsi sentenced the head of the internal audit department of the occupation tax service of Kherson Oblast.
