Today an occupation court on the left bank of the Kherson region sentenced 60-year-old Armenian citizen Armen Balyan, accusing him of taking part in hostilities on the side of Ukraine.
Occupation media report the verdict was handed down.
According to the occupiers, the man allegedly arrived in Ukraine via Moldova in November 2022 and voluntarily joined the 124th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he served as a rifleman and later as a senior reconnaissance sniper.
Russian investigators claim that he allegedly received monetary compensation for participating in the war, and in October 2024 he was detained at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport. Despite the man denying the charges, the occupation court sentenced him to 12 years in a maximum-security penal colony.
The so-called court also ordered the confiscation of more than 2 million rubles, which the Russian prosecutor’s office said were earned as a result of mercenary activity.
Recall, recently the occupiers sentenced a Ukrainian to life imprisonment, whom they accuse of organizing an attempt on Bulyuk.
