Biliaivka District Court of the Odesa region handed down a sentence to the occupation-appointed headman of the village Tryfonivka of the Velykooleksandrivka community, Ruslan Shevchenko.
This is stated in the court verdict.
As the investigation established, Shevchenko was offered to become the village elder in June 2022. This happened near the local store.
He accepted the offer and later began organizing the formation of the occupying administration’s apparatus, introducing Russian rubles into circulation, collecting information about local residents and compiling lists which he subsequently handed over to representatives of the occupying administration of the Beryslav district.
In court, one of the witnesses said that after the village was captured the occupiers gathered people near the store and offered the legitimate elder to work for them, but she refused. Then the Russians asked the people if anyone wished to take her place, to which Shevchenko put forward his candidacy.
Later he also encouraged local residents to go work for occupation institutions and distributed humanitarian aid.
The court in absentia found Ruslan Shevchenko guilty of collaborationist activities. He was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier we wrote that the court handed down a sentence to the head of the internal audit department of the occupying tax service of the Kherson region.
