The Ternopil City District Court convicted in absentia a resident of Skadovsk district, Yurii Roman, who voluntarily collaborated with the occupying authorities.
This is stated in the court verdict.
The investigation found that in December 2022 the man headed the so-called economic and technical department in the occupation administration of the village of Shyroke in the Skadovsk community.
In this position he managed the community’s property, directed personnel, and carried out direct orders of the illegal authorities. He also regularly held citizen receptions, effectively acting as a local representative of the occupying authorities.
Also, as questioned witnesses reported, Roman took part in conducting a fake referendum in September 2022.
According to eyewitnesses, he personally went door to door in Shyroke with a portable ballot box. He urged residents to mark votes for the joining of Kherson region to Russia. Witnesses in court confirmed that he acted voluntarily and on his own initiative, not hiding his pro-Russian views.
The court convicted Yurii Roman in absentia of collaborationist activity. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with confiscation of all property.
