An occupation court on the left bank of the Kherson region sentenced a 23-year-old resident of Chaplynka to 5 years and 6 months in prison on charges of spreading allegedly “false information” about the Russian army.
This was reported by the Kherson region prosecutor’s office controlled by the Russian Federation.
According to the Russian security forces’ version, from August to September 2023 the woman, while at home in Chaplynka, posted information online about the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The occupation investigation called this information “knowingly false”, and the motive for the publications was allegedly “national and political hatred”.
At the same time, the occupation prosecutor’s office does not report what exactly the Chaplynka resident published and which specific information about Russian servicemen became the basis for the criminal prosecution.
The so-called Chaplynka interdistrict court found her guilty under point “d” of part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
In addition to 5.5 years in a general-regime penal colony, the woman was prohibited for two years from administering websites and from activities related to disseminating information via the internet.
Until the verdict was announced she was under a written undertaking not to leave. After the occupation court’s decision, the Chaplynka resident was taken into custody directly in the courtroom.
Chaplynka has been under Russian occupation since 2022.
