The occupation authorities of the Kherson region announced the end of the so-called “transition period” for re-registering vehicles. From now on, local residents who have not replaced Ukrainian documents and license plates with Russian ones will be held accountable.
This is stated on the website of the occupation administration of the region.
For driving a vehicle that has not undergone re-registration, the occupiers have introduced a fine ranging from 500 to 800 rubles. At the same time, a repeated stop of a driver in a not re-registered vehicle carries harsher sanctions, up to revocation of the right to drive.
The use of Ukrainian license plates has also been prohibited in cases where the owner has already received Russian documents for the car — this is considered a separate violation.
Owners who did not have time or did not want to change their documents earlier are now required to resolve registration issues through the customs authorities of the Russian Federation in the usual manner.
Earlier it became known that the occupiers confiscated an SUV from a resident of the left bank of the Kherson region “for violating traffic rules”.
