The occupying Henichesk District Court handed down a sentence in absentia to a 33-year-old resident of the left-bank Kherson region who was accused of participation in “illegal armed formation”.
According to Kremlin-controlled media, in 2015 the man allegedly voluntarily joined the volunteer battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan and was part of it while serving on the administrative border with Crimea.
The so-called court sentenced him in absentia to 9 years’ imprisonment to be served in a strict-regime penal colony.
The occupiers also said that they had declared the man internationally wanted.
Recall, according to the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, since the start of the full-scale invasion on the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region 36 Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians were illegally detained 36 Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians, whom the Russians accused of participating in the battalion named after Chelebidzhikhan.
