On the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region, the Russians plan to create the so-called Checkers Federation.
This became known from pro-Russian channels.
According to them, this was agreed upon by the occupiers-appointed acting Minister of Sports of the Kherson region, Olena Kyryllova, and the vice president of the Checkers Federation in Moscow, Serhiy Bohdanov.
Propaganda channels quote Bohdanov, who said that he allegedly already held tournaments in the occupied territory and sees “an interest among young people in regular activities”. He also promised “support for checkers athletes”.
The occupying structures claim that the Russian side will provide legal support for the creation and registration of this pseudo-federation.
For what purpose the occupiers needed legal support – is unclear, since before this they registered under the laws of the Russian Federation countless similar organizations, including the Federation of rhythmic gymnastics, fishing sport, laser tag and others. Most of these organizations are headed by collaborators, pseudo-officials, or simply outsiders.
