The occupation administration of the Askania-Nova reserve reported the ponds in the steppe zone drying up and the channels in the Velyky Chapelsky pod drying out.
This was reported by occupation media citing the illegitimate director of the reserve, Dmytro Meshcheryakov.
According to him, due to the shrinking of water bodies and the drying of channels, the reserve is forced to provide water to the animals using diesel generators, which have been operating for more than 10 days. He also stated the need to form stocks of diesel fuel.
The occupation administration links the water supply problems to combat operations.
Earlier the occupation authorities announced more than 3 thousand hectares of burned steppe in “Askania-Nova”.
