The occupying authorities claim that about 23,500 people live in the Novokakhovska community on the left bank of the Kherson region.
The occupation head of Nova Kakhovka, Volodymyr Ohanesov, told Kremlin-controlled media this.
According to him, 7,000 residents – elderly people.
Note that when speaking about the number of inhabitants Ohanesov means the so-called Novokakhovskyi district (territorial unit created by the illegal authorities, equivalent of a community, – МОСТ), and this district includes settlements both of the Novokakhovka community and the nearest villages of neighboring communities. At the same time, Ohanesov does not say how many people live directly in Nova Kakhovka.
In addition, according to him, only one school is operating remotely in the city, and all kindergartens – are closed. Instead, reportedly an art school, a museum, two libraries and one sports section are operating.
Recall that the city of Nova Kakhovka has been under Russian occupation since February 24, 2022.
According to official data, before the full-scale invasion about 60,000 residents lived in the territory of the Novokakhovka community.
