The occupying Kherson Regional Duma dismissed Valeriya Veremeyeva from the position of a member of the illegally created Kherson Oblast election commission.
The corresponding decision was made at an extraordinary session of the occupying authority.
Veremeyeva was relieved of the powers of a member of the election commission with the right to a deciding vote until the end of her term of office.
She was appointed to the commission by the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation on February 21, 2024. At that time, Veremeyeva headed the organizational and legal department of the office of the Kherson Oblast election commission.
After her appointment, she participated in the work of the occupying administration and, together with the so-called media technologist Oleksiy Lavrentiev, told students at a Henichesk school about Russian election legislation and “countering disinformation”. Later Veremeyeva gave a similar lecture for pupils in Zaliznyi Port. She told children about the Russian electoral system and urged them to take part in Russia’s political life.
She also claimed that elections in Russia were supposedly fair and competitive and called the “Russian world” a manifestation of democracy.
Despite this, Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have not yet announced suspicion against Valeriya Veremeyeva.
Note that currently, on the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson Oblast the so-called early voting is underway for the elections of deputies to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, which are scheduled for September 18-20.
How the Russians plan to hold the “elections” in the temporarily occupied part of Kherson Oblast, MOST wrote about at the link.
