Russian occupying forces will likely continue to increase the number of pontoon crossings in southern Ukraine as they try to compensate for losses in logistical infrastructure. At the same time the Ukrainian Defense Forces are already prepared for such actions and will continue to strike them.
This was said on the air of “Suspilne” by the commander of the First Separate Assault Regiment named after Dmytro Kotsyubailo, Dmytro “Perun” Filatov.
According to him, after a series of strikes on key bridges in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region, in particular Chonhar and Armyansk, Russian forces were forced to urgently establish alternative routes — specifically pontoon crossings.
He confirmed that on the night of June 13 one of these crossings was damaged as a result of the actions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to the serviceman, pontoon crossings are much less stable and have limited throughput capacity, which forces the occupiers to accumulate equipment in long queues. This, in turn, creates additional opportunities to strike them.
Filatov also emphasized that the occupiers’ further actions are predictable — they will try to expand the network of pontoon crossings. However, the Ukrainian military are ready for such a scenario and have means to destroy them quickly.
