A native of the Poltava region, Vyacheslav Pashchenko, who took a job at a colony in Kherson seized by the occupiers, was found guilty of collaborationist activity.
This is stated in the verdict of the Khadzhibey District Court of Odesa.
As the investigation found, in June 2022 Pashchenko voluntarily agreed to work for the occupation authorities and took the position of junior inspector of the 2nd category in the security department at Northern Correctional Colony No. 90, which at that time was controlled by Russian forces.
In December 2022 Pashchenko was detained by Ukrainian law enforcement. At first the man did not admit guilt and denied cooperating with the occupation authorities, but later effectively admitted the circumstances of the charge.
The man explained that he went to work at Colony No. 90 due to severe financial hardship and the lack of other means of subsistence. According to him, at first Ukrainian management was still working at the colony, but later employees began to transfer to work for the occupation authorities.
According to him, he worked as a guard until September 2022. The occupiers issued him a uniform, an AKM assault rifle, and once paid his salary in Russian rubles.
Later Pashchenko acknowledged that he went to work for the occupation authorities, agreed to provide testimony about other people who worked in the colony during the occupation, and expressed remorse.
The court found Vyacheslav Pashchenko guilty under part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to 7 years of imprisonment without confiscation of property.
From December 2022 to July 2025 he was held in custody; on August 17 this year he was again detained directly in the courtroom after the verdict was pronounced.
