The Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office has notified former Henichesk District Council deputy from the OPZZh party, Andriy Klochko, of suspicion.
This was reported on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to investigators, after the occupation of part of the Kherson region he voluntarily sided with the Russians and in April 2022 assumed the position of the so-called head of the military-civilian administration of Henichesk district.
Klochko supported the switch to the Russian ruble, participated in events to integrate the occupied Kherson region into the economic and administrative space of the Russian Federation, and also urged local residents to obtain Russian documents.
He took part in ceremonies handing out Russian passports to residents of Henichesk district in the summer of 2022. Also, according to law enforcement, Andriy Klochko participated in public events dedicated to Russian state holidays, in particular the celebration of the Russian State Flag Day, where he spoke together with representatives of the occupying authorities.
Andriy Klochko’s actions have been qualified under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaborationist activity) and Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason). The penalties of the articles provide for up to life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
In May this year Andriy Klochko prematurely resigned his powers as a deputy of the occupation Council of Deputies of the so-called Chaplynka municipal district of the first convocation.
Recall that in 2015 he ran for the Kherson Regional Council from the Opposition Bloc party. In 2019 he attempted to be elected to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the early elections from OPZZh, where he again failed to obtain the desired results.
In 2020 Klochko finally became a deputy of the Henichesk District Council from OPZZh.
