The Kherson City Court sentenced Kherson resident Andriy Sharlai to 11 years in prison for aiding Russia.
This was reported in the court’s verdict.
The court found that in the summer and autumn of 2022 Sharlai began cooperating with the occupation authorities and headed the so-called “Wagon Depot Kherson”, which was part of the railway structure seized by the Russians.
In this position he organized the repair and maintenance of freight wagons that were used to transport grain from the Kherson region to occupied territories and to Russia.
The case was considered in absentia. The court sentenced Sharlai to 11 years of imprisonment and banned him from holding managerial positions for 12 years. No confiscation of property was applied.
Earlier the SBU announced suspicion against Sharlai. According to the investigation, he helped the occupiers establish railway connections between Russia, Crimea, and the Kherson region and facilitated the removal of stolen grain.
