A resident of temporarily occupied Crimea has been notified in absentia of suspicion of collaborationist activity for working in illegal authorities created by the Russians in the Kherson region.
The press service of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported this.
According to the investigation, in September 2022 a 48-year-old man, while in Kherson, which was occupied at the time, headed the so-called “Ministry of Finance of the Kherson Region” created by the occupation administration. In this position he ensured the functioning of the pseudo-authority, organized management of the financial and budgetary system, and also disposed of property and funds in the occupied territory.
Since November 2023 the suspect held the position of the so-called Deputy Minister of Finance and continued the organizational, financial, and administrative support of the occupation regime, in particular the integration of the seized territories into the economic system of the aggressor state.
The man is charged with collaborationist activity under part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Recall that the Kherson City Court sentenced former police captain Mykola Kavun, who, after the start of the full-scale invasion, remained in occupied Kherson and voluntarily went to serve the Russians.
