On March 13, the Velykooleksandrivskyi District Court in absentia found Nina Batsula, a resident of the village of Tyahynka in the Beryslav district of Kherson Oblast, guilty of collaborationist activities.
This was reported by the Center for Journalistic Investigations.
It is noted that the 49-year-old Batsula, who worked as a saleswoman before the full-scale invasion, in the summer of 2022 headed the occupation administration of the Tyahynka rural community. She organized the distribution of Russian so-called aid and pensions, carried out an illegal census of the population, participated in organizing a pseudo-referendum and facilitated the issuance of Russian passports.
Witnesses in court stated that during the occupation a Russian military commandant’s office operated in Tyahynka. According to them, Batsula housed Russian military personnel in the homes of local residents, collected people’s personal data during the distribution of payments, recruited personnel for occupation bodies, and tried to open an occupation school in the village.
Also, according to eyewitnesses, in 2022 a Russian military commandant held a meeting near the local school where he announced the creation of an occupation village council, and presented Nina Batsula as its head.
In the autumn of 2022 the woman left for the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The court found her guilty under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced her to 10 years’ imprisonment with confiscation of all property, including the residential house.
In addition, she was barred from holding positions in government bodies, local self-government and institutions that provide public services for a period of 15 years after serving the main sentence.
Earlier it was reported that the Khadzhibey District Court of Odesa sentenced Kherson carrier Ihor Odarchenko, who during the occupation of the right bank of Kherson Oblast ferried people by boats to the left bank.
