On January 16 the Kyiv Court of Appeal continued to hear the case of the fatal attack on Kateryna Handziuk. At the hearing they examined the medical forensic report on the injuries received and the information about the cause of death of the public activist.
This is reported by Watchers.
The defendants’ defense argued that the woman’s treatment was allegedly incorrect, and the defendant Vladyslav Manger suggested that Kateryna Handziuk would have survived if she had remained to be treated in Kherson. He called sending her to Kyiv for treatment ‘a publicity stunt’
The appellate judges are currently reviewing verdict of the Dnipro District Court of Kyiv, which in 2023 found the former head of the Kherson Regional Council, Vladyslav Manger, and his aide Oleksii Levin guilty in this case and sentenced them to ten years in prison.
On July 31, 2018, about a liter of sulfuric acid was poured on Kateryna Handziuk, adviser to the mayor of Kherson. Doctors tried to save her, but on November 4 she died in the hospital.
