In 2026, Ukraine allocated over UAH 3 billion of basic funding for science. Some of these funds will also be received by research institutions and universities associated with the Kherson region.
This was reported on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
The money will go to support scientists, renewal of equipment, and the development of research institutions. The largest portion — UAH 1,921.2 million — will be directed to additional payments to scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff and to support units with the best results.
A further UAH 638.1 million is planned to be spent on renewing research infrastructure and equipment, and UAH 530.8 million on the development of the research institutions themselves.
Funds will be received by research institutions and universities in 25 regions of Ukraine. Among them are institutions that, because of the war, left temporarily occupied territories, including from the Kherson region, but continue to operate in other regions.
It was previously reported that the Kherson region could be included in the list of territories to which the state will direct priority assistance for the restoration of infrastructure and support for people.
