Last week, on the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson Oblast, a mass blocking of SIM cards from Russian operators, purchased in 2022–2023 with Ukrainian passports, was recorded.
Journalist Oleg Baturyn writes about this.
Phone numbers registered with Russian documents continue to operate, the article says.
Recall that in October 2025 the occupation authorities announced that telecom operators would begin to restrict servicing of subscribers who have not confirmed or updated their passport data.
Prior to that, in January 2025, the occupiers said that the quality of mobile service on the left bank of Kherson Region was reportedly satisfactory to 51% of residents.
It should be noted that throughout the entire time of the occupation of the left bank of Kherson Region, communication and the internet there have remained consistently poor. This is especially noticeable in the coastal settlements.
