Volunteers helped a teenager leave the occupied part of the Kherson region – after he became a full orphan. A Russian soldier killed the boy’s mother in front of his eyes.
This is reported by Radio Svoboda.
Ivan is currently being cared for by Natalia, who has taken five children from the occupied territories under her care.
“I was in my room, I heard shots. After that I heard nothing more,” the boy said.
After that, Ivan, who had become an orphan, stayed for some time on the left bank of the Kherson region. Later volunteers helped the teenager leave.
Remember that in mid-March it became known that a UN international commission recognized Russia’s deportation of Ukrainian children as a crime against humanity.
According to official Ukrainian data, during the full-scale war more than 20,000 Ukrainian children ended up in Russia and in the occupied territories. At the same time, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets suggested that Russia illegally removed about 150,000 children from Ukraine, and the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Children’s Rights Darya Herasymchuk cited a figure of “several hundred thousand children, that is about 200–300 thousand”.
