The court handed down a verdict against a native of the Kakhovka district, Yevhenii Kalinich, who became the occupation-appointed starosta of the village of Novomykolaivka on the left bank of Kherson.
This is stated in the relevant court verdict.
According to the investigation, in April 2022 Kalinich became the starosta of the village of Novomykolaivka in the Henichesk community.
In this position he urged residents of the community to side with the Russian Federation, coerced farmers into re-registering land under Russian legislation, and organized trips for people to Henichesk to obtain passports.
He aided the deployment of servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces, provided the occupiers with information about pro-Ukrainian residents, police officers and ATO participants, and also assisted in the looting of agricultural machinery, livestock and property of a Ukrainian military unit.
Additionally, Kalinich ensured the removal of the state flag of Ukraine from the village council building, replacing it with the flag of the Russian Federation, and helped the occupying forces transport materials for the construction of checkpoints.
Having examined the evidence, the court in absentia found Yevhenii Kalinich guilty of aiding the aggressor state (Part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 12 years in prison with confiscation of all property.
