As of January 14, 2026, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 1979 cases of abduction or disappearance of people were recorded in the Kherson region.
This is reported by Suspilne. Kherson, citing data from the regional prosecutor’s office.
Among those abducted: mayors, heads of territorial communities, village elders, the secretary of the city council, deputies of the regional and local councils, clergy and other residents of the region.
1002 people were released, another 925 citizens are still being unlawfully detained, 49 of the abducted died as a result of torture or due to lack of medical care, and 3 died after their release.
