The government proposes introducing a new category — a zone of particularly risky farming — for frontline regions, including Kherson Oblast.
This proposal was voiced during the government question hour by the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Korniienko.
According to Korniienko, the situation in the region remains critical: farmers are forced to work under constant attacks by Russian FPV drones. As a result there are fatalities among agricultural workers, as well as significant losses of agricultural machinery.
The politician turned to the Minister of Agrarian Policy, Oleksii Sobolev, with the relevant initiative.
Korniienko stressed that the introduction of the special zone will strengthen state support for farmers working in frontline conditions and provide them with additional protection and compensation mechanisms.
Recall that last year farmers in Kherson Oblast managed to harvest over 264 thousand tons of cereals, pulses, industrial crops, vegetables, potatoes, watermelons and melons.
However, due to detonations of Russian explosives and drone attacks in the fields 43 agricultural workers were wounded, 15 were killed.
