Kherson region law enforcement officers have notified the owner of a construction firm of suspicion; he was exposed for embezzling budget funds during repairs of a simple shelter in the Korabelnyi district of Kherson.
This is reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kherson region.
According to the investigation, in April and October 2023 a 48-year-old resident of Dnipro concluded two contracts with the civil protection department of the city council to carry out current repairs of a shelter in one of the apartment buildings. After completing the work the entrepreneur submitted acceptance certificates and received nearly three million hryvnias from the city budget.
However, police established that the estimate stated in the reporting documentation was significantly inflated.
Forensic construction and technical examinations confirmed that the actual works did not correspond to those declared. The documents listed works that were not performed, as well as inflated amounts of used materials and installed equipment. In addition, the reports contained a signature that does not belong to the entrepreneur.
The amount of illegally obtained funds, according to investigators’ calculations, exceeds 810 thousand hryvnias.
Currently the suspect has been notified of suspicion with the agreement of the regional prosecutor’s office, and the selection of a preventive measure for him has been scheduled.
The pre-trial investigation is currently ongoing.
The suspect faces a punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, and with confiscation of property.
Earlier we wrote that the State Audit Service began an inspection of the procurement concerning the construction of a shelter for a school in Vysokopillia in the Kherson region. As indicated on Prozorro, the decision to begin the inspection was made because signs of violations were found in the documents of this procurement.
