The Prosecutor’s Office is trying to cancel the contract for the reconstruction of a gymnasium building in the Kherson district through the court, the cost of which exceeds 100 million hryvnias.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
In 2025 one of the village councils entered into an agreement with a contractor to carry out the reconstruction of an educational institution. The work was to be completed by the end of 2026.
During the procurement audit, prosecutors found that at the time of signing the contract and its extension the village council did not have sufficient funds to fully pay for the work. At the same time, according to the law, contracts cannot be concluded without confirmed financing.
“Violation of this rule creates the risk that the community will end up with millions in debt, and the reconstruction of the educational institution will turn into an unfinished long-term project”, – the prosecutor’s office said in the post.
Juvenile prosecutors of the Kherson Regional and Oleshky District prosecutor’s offices appealed to the court with a lawsuit to terminate the contract. The court has already opened proceedings and begun consideration of the case.
Earlier the court terminated a 94-million contract for the restoration of a museum in Kherson, ordered in 2021.
