A new local botanical protected area “Ekonomiya Ivanivka of Karl Falz-Fein” may appear in the Kherson region. This site is planned to be established on the territory of the Borozenska rural community of Beryslav district.
The corresponding order was signed by the acting head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Dmytro Butriy.
The project is based on the scientific justification of specialists from Kherson State University and the official petition of the Department for Environmental Protection of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
The future reserve will cover an area of approximately 294.2218 hectares.
At present, the petition on the necessity of creating the site has been approved. The next step is for the relevant department to agree the boundaries of the plots with landowners and land users.
“Ekonomiya Ivanivka” is a historic locality in the territory of the modern Borozenska community that once belonged to the family of the founder of “Askania-Nova”, Falz-Fein.
Earlier we wrote that the biosphere reserve “Askania-Nova”, due to large-scale mining, may remain inaccessible to Ukraine for decades or even a century.
