Four female residents of the Beryslav district were notified in absentia of suspicion of participating in organizing and conducting an illegal referendum in the Kherson region.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the investigation, in September 2022 they joined the so-called precinct commissions that the occupiers created to conduct a sham vote on joining Kherson Oblast to the Russian Federation.
During the so-called voting, the women, together with Russian military personnel, went door-to-door to residents’ homes in the villages of Mylove and Kachkarivka of the Mylivska community. They urged them to take part in the process and campaigned in favor of joining Russia.
They also organized the actual voting using ballots and ballot boxes bearing the symbols of the Russian Federation.
All four women have been notified in absentia of suspicion of organizing and conducting an illegal referendum in temporarily occupied territory (part 2 of Article 28, part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
